How crypto gift cards work, which coin to use, and how to avoid the mistakes that strand a first purchase.
Crypto gift cards, explained
How do crypto gift cards work?
A crypto gift card is an ordinary brand gift card you pay for in cryptocurrency instead of with a bank card. You send crypto to a one-time invoice, and once the network confirms the payment, the card's code is released to you — usually within seconds to a few minutes.
Best coin to pay with
Which cryptocurrency is best for buying gift cards?
For speed and low fees, a stablecoin like USDT on TRON or USDC is best — it confirms in under a minute and does not move in price. For maximum privacy, Monero is best. Bitcoin works everywhere but is slower and pricier per transaction.
Region-locking explained
Why are gift cards region-locked, and how to pick the right country
Most gift card balances are locked to the country that issued them, by the brand — not by the reseller. An Amazon card issued for the United States will not load into an Amazon France account, so you must match the card's country to the account you will redeem it in.
Crypto payment privacy
How private is paying with crypto, really?
Most cryptocurrencies are pseudonymous, not anonymous: Bitcoin and Ethereum transactions are public and can be traced to you if the coins were bought with KYC. Monero is the exception — it hides amounts, senders and receivers on-chain. Buying without an account further limits what any site can link to you.
